Webinar to Address Critical Competencies in Healthcare Environmental Services

The second in a series of live webinars available each month as part of the Clean Spaces, Healthy Patients project, this webinar will focus on Knowledge to Action in the Healthcare Environment: Critical Competencies." The Association for the Healthcare environment (AHE) will provide two experts from the environmental services field to lead this presentation.

The Clean Spaces, Healthy Patients project is part of APICs Building Bridges series, which aims to improve patient outcomes by bridging the communication gap between infection preventionists (IPs) and environmental services (EVS) professionals. One of the goals of this project is to equip IPs and EVS professionals with compelling educational resources and tools that will lead to improved outcomes.

Ruth Carrico PhD, RN, FSHEA, CIC, lead clinical advisor for AHE and Patti Costello, executive director of the AHE, will introduce the application of infection prevention competencies for all healthcare personnel instrumental in addressing the role of the environment in the transmission of organisms. Both presenters Carrico and Costello will demonstrate the critical nature of transprofessional and interdisciplinary teams in order to address the complex issues involved in environmental infection prevention and control.
