SGNA Revises Guideline for the Use of HLDs and Sterilants for Reprocessing Flexible GI Endoscopes
The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) has released the Guideline for the Use of High-Level Disinfectants and Sterilants for Reprocessing of Flexible Gastrointestinal Endoscopes. Professional medical associations and regulatory agencies consider high-level disinfectants the standard of care in reprocessing flexible GI endoscopes, and this new SGNA guideline explains how to safely and effectively use these solutions.
The document offers information about the main ingredients of these solutions and their compatibility with flexible GI endoscopes. In addition, it includes detailed information regarding general principles common to the use of all high-level disinfectants and handling recommendations.
