Infection Prevention Systems Launches New Handwashing Technology at APIC Annual Meeting
GLENDORA, Calif. -- Infection Prevention Systems, Inc. (IPS), a healthcare technology company, will launch the Clean Hands Infection Prevention System (CHIPS) at the 2007 annual meeting of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) to be held in San Jose, Calif. Next week.Â
The CHIPS technology is designed to allow healthcare facilities to electronically monitor hand-hygiene opportunities and the thoroughness of hand cleansing of healthcare staff and visitors alike, without disruption of workflow. CHIPS recognizes and records the presence of personnel in handwashing areas and electronically supervises the process. Mounted wherever the hospital might place soap or gel/foam dispensers, CHIPS dispenses a specially formulated solution and provides voice and visual prompts to assist in guiding employees through proper handwashing procedures. The CHIPS system collects data via electronic sensors and provides clinicians with detailed, actionable information in order to improve compliance rates, impact patient care, and reduce the risk of infection. Additionally, the CHIPS solution allows for swift, effective installation and can be tailored to the needs of a hospital.Â
