ASP Offers CE Program on Sterilization and Liquid Chemical Sterilant Processing at MTORS
On Thursday, Sept. 29, Barbara Trattler, RN, MPA, CNOR, CNA, director of clinical education for Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), will provide a CE program for attendees at this years Managing Todays OR Suite (MTORS) annual meeting. The program, "Sterilization and Liquid Chemical Sterilant Processing: What You Need to Know," provides education on critical and timely information related to sterilization, including:
- The difference between sterilization and liquid chemical sterilant processing, including that the FDA recommends that the use of liquid chemical sterilants be limited to reprocessing only critical devices that are heat-sensitive and incompatible with sterilization methods such as steam and gas/vapor/plasma low-temperature processing.
- A guideline review, including that the Joint Commission expects each healthcare facilities to follow the recommended standards and guidelines established by AAMI and AORN.
- How to assure sterility, including through the use of biological indicators (BIs), chemical indicators (CIs) and physical and administrative monitoring.
The educational session will close with an interactive Q&A where Trattler will address the audience's most pressing questions. The session will be offered at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the ASP booth #714.
