AAMI Offers Instruction on High-Level Disinfection of TEE Transducers and New Leak Testing Mandate

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is offering the course, "TEE: High Level Disinfection of TEE Transducers and New Leak Testing Mandate," on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) probes are expensive and delicate, and like any other semi-critical medical device, must be carefully maintained and high-level disinfected to prevent the transmission of disease or infection to a patient. In addition, you need to protect patients from possibly dangerous electrical currents. Beginning Dec. 31, 2015, the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) will require that TEE probes are tested for electrical current leaks or damage between each use. Whether your institution is IAC affiliated or not, this mandate is best practice for the safety of your patients and protection of your probes.

The webinar faculty will describe how to comply with the new rule, and seamlessly integrate the leak testing process with your disinfection and/or repair processes.
