3M, AHIMA Create Memorial Scholarship
CHICAGO - In a partnership with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), officials of 3M have donated $10,000 to create the Jimmy Gamble Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship, in memory of former 3m sales professional James "Jimmy" North Gamble of Hartsville, S.C., will be awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student studying health information administration or technology.
Gamble passed away at age 48 after battling leukemia.
"Jimmy Gamble was someone who exemplified the dedication to excellence that is at the core of HIM professionals," says James Burgess, vice president and general manager at 3M Health Information Systems. "We know that he would be honored tohelp students on their journey to becoming HIM Professional and making a difference in healthcare."
The scholarship is part of the Fast FOREward campaign created by AHIMA's Foundation of Research and Education (FORE).
